which Ghostwalker seems to be
taking care of for the forseeable future.
But that's not what we're on about here.
In fact, the person in question is human -
or at least mostly... <<


BACKGROUND

And here's the story: A good few years ago, Big D. stumbled across information on some experiments that Aztech was undertaking. One of these projects produced Angel and her sisters (see "Darke's daughters"). Other projects produced horrible magical abominations, and others produced what looked like perfectly normal humans - mostly.
Anyway, the Dragon took care of the experiments as best as he could. Hestaby and her Otaku helped to change data to make the Aztech people believe their experiments had failed. They also helped to find new homes for the children and homes and jobs for the adults - of course all these jobs were in some way linked to the Draco Foundation - especially if the people showed very promising talents. Others had talents that were very dangerous and had to be manipulated with magic. Some committed suicide.
The most controversial experiment for both Dunkelzahn and Hestaby was a breeding project which involved Dragon DNA. The two planned to destroy all evidence of the project - including its only remaining "guinea pig": Azana. Too many terrible dragon abominations had already been created with the help of magical experiments in the past (e. g. the Hydra or, some would say, Alachia).
When Hestaby and Dunkelzahn confronted the girl in order to kill her, Hestaby refused. After a short argument, they agreed that Hestaby should take care of the girl - and of whatever happens if the other dragons ever find out about this. If something undesirable happened in Azana's development, Dunkelzahn might not be able to help Azana - or Hestaby.


DESCRIPTION

Azana has dark skin and green dragon eyes which are made to look human by a permanent illusion spell. She tends to wear practical but stylish clothing, most often a combination of trousers, shirt, boots and jacket.
Azana has not had much contact with outsiders. She is a clumsy communicator, but when in public tries to hide this under a mask of coolness. Luckily, this is often mistaken for professionalism. Only people close to Azana (and those are not many) know that she is actually just shy and not used to talking.

Currently, at irregular intervals Azana experiences strange visions and moments of intense pain. Hestaby suspects that Azana is in some kind of metamorphosis. The worried Dragon tries to assist her "daughter" as best as she can and devotes a lot of her time to looking after her. For most of these phases, Azana is soothed by physical contact which allows Hestaby to conduct her ususal "business" from her den. For Azana's sake Hestaby spends a lot of time in her human form since she associates the dragon form with the two frightening creatures who barged into the laboratory wanting to kill her.
So far Azana shows impressive physical strength and intelligence, a latent magical talent and heightened senses.



ROLE-PLAYING

Azana always uses as few words as possible. She is extremely mistrustful. The only people she trusts are Hestaby and a few of her monks/otaku.
Azana has problems with physical contact. The only person who is allowed to touch or hold her is Hestaby.
Azana underestimates her physical strength and her wild magical talent. If she is attacked, she might not only kill or mutilate her assailants, but in addition wreck a whole area...

SUMMARY

Azana, especially her heritage, is Hestaby's best kept secret. The Dragon is paranoid that something might happen to the "girl" from the outside, but also from the "inside", as Azana is changing into something. But what? And what happens if somebody finds out?



< Darke's Daughters >

BACKGROUND

In 2028 Darke initiated 'Project Paragon' to bio-enigineer an individual with 'top physical, mental and magical abilities' in order to provide a host body for a horror to hasten the Enemy's presence on Earth. For the project, elven genetic material was to be used. Three children were born in the course of the project: Rosa, Aguila and Angela.
Dunkelzahn's spies got wind of the project and sabotaged the results, particularly Angela's who was the most successful experiment. Big D. managed to get Angela out of Darke's claws and into his own. The other two girls remained as Darke's apprentices.


DESCRIPTION

Rosa became Darke's primary lieutenant and learned about the true purpose of the project. Her hope is to unite her sisters and overthrow Darke to profit from his connections with the horrors. Rosa is an exceptionally talented mage. She is only ever seen in black clothing and keeps a black pet jaguar.

Aguila is an elite decker and rigger with the Aztlan Jaguar Guards. She likes to follow orders and impress superiors. When Rosa contacted her with the truth of their origin, she was torn between her loyalty to Aztlan and the offer her sister made. She is quite intimidated by Rosa and, for the moment at least, sides with her, although she thinks her plan and the story is a little crazy.

Angela changed her name to Angel and founded a runner team. She is an exceptional decker and a pretty good fighter, but has had less experience as a mage or ki-adept as she is lacking an adequate mentor. Dunkelzahn monitors her closely, but has decided to leave her to master her own life.
Angel is a very sociable person who could be described as a 'neo-hippie'. She has shoulder-lengthd dreadlocks of varying colours and quite a few different types of body decorations. One of those is a magical dragon tattoo which Dunkelzahn gave her, although Angel thinks that it's an Aztechnology mark (it looks a lot like the company logo). Angel usually wears baggy trousers and T-shirts and is rarely seen withouther deck. Her other passions are painting, music and circus artistry (she used to earn money as a street performer).
Angel has a humanitarian streaks, which is why she works against Darke and Rosa. Most recently, she did a matrix run against Aztechnology and sent the resulting information to Audrey W. who subsequently aired them.



ROLE-PLAYING


Rosa: cool, calculating and megalomaniac. She inspires fear in the people around her.
Aguila: Aguila hides her insecurity behind ambition. She does not have any other goal than to be the best so she can impress her superiors. In her private life she has just clumsily begun to explore the things that she heard people talk about in the Matrix. E.g. going to the movies or reading novels and not just manuals.
Angel: Angel has the open and streetwise personality of a street performer. She is extremely charismatic, well-connected and knows how to rally people for a cause. She can, for instance, be used as a fixer/Johnson or contact.

SUMMARY

So far, it looks as if Angel has a lot to fear from Aztechnology and her sisters. Good job that Big D. is looking after her. She will need his protection. As for her sisters, they had to go into hiding after the Audrey W. special, thus giving Rosa a greater influence over Aguila.

BACKGROUND

Morgan was given into Mealla Oakforest's care by Dunkelzahn to give her 'the son she really deserves'. Morgan displays a phenomenal magical talent, which comes as no surprise given his true background, which even Mealla Oakforest is not aware of to date.
During previous ages of magic the Dragons experimented with the creation servants which ranged from dragon-like creatures (e.g. drakes) to humanoid creatures (e.g. the Great Elves). During their conversations, Dunkelzahn and Hestaby found that the way dragons reproduce themselves and handle their young - after the 'survival of the fittest' method - is rather barbaric. Further, better communication with other races was needed and perhaps a dragon that could remain awake during a downcycle. While being aware of Alamaise's mistakes of trying to create a cross between humanoids and dragons, they experimented with creating 'human form dragons'. Instead of crossing dragon DNA with that of other races, Dunkelzahn and Hestaby conceived the child in human form, and Hestaby remained in this form throughout the duration of the pregnancy. The result was a 'human' child that would hopefully not have to go through the phases of dragon development or dragon rearing. They have no idea, however, how Morgan will develop.


DESCRIPTION

Morgan appears as a normal human boy of white and Native American descent. He perfers to dress in tracksuit, T-Shirt and trainers.



ROLE-PLAYING

Morgan is unaware that he is the child of two dragons. He thinks that Hestaby is merely his mentor, although he does feel an instinctive link with her, which confuses him.
Morgan is extremely magically gifted. He uses magic quite casually and instinctively without sometimes even thinking about it or noticing it.
He is also a gifted and passionate basketball player. He has problems finding 'other elves' to play with in Tir Taingire, so he is always looking forward to visiting his adoptive mother's Native American family.

SUMMARY

The big question is how long Hestaby will manage to conceal Morgan's true origins - and what happens then...



< Ryan >

BACKGROUND

Ryan Javier Lloyd Phillips is the child of Alejandra Cecila Maria de Luna E Izquierdo, a mage from Aztlan, and Sebastian Zacharias Lloyd-Phillips, a multi-millionaire from Seattle, rumoured also to have been a mage. Ryan's parents lived a double life as high level shadowrunners.

When they died on one of their runs, Ryan chose to pretend that they were still alive. A talented techno-mage, he managed to pose as them - in the virtual or in person - on numerous occasions. His aim was to keep the illusion up until he was eighteen, so he did not have to deal with social services. When a team of runners abducted him to hold him for ransom, his charade was in danger of backfiring. When his friends from school hired a runner to free him, that runner (Kayana, see below) discovered that his parents were dead. After freeing him, the runner decided to take care of Ryan until he was old enough. After all, it's never a bad thing to have a competent techno-mage in the house...


DESCRIPTION

Ryan has shaggy brown hair and brown eyes. At home, he never bothers to change out of his school uniform (apart from tie and shoes), until he goes to bed.
In the matrix, his avatar is a middle-aged person of indeterminate gender which also appears to be part organic, part machine, but not in a cyborg kind of way. The person wears tight fitting clothing, army boots and a hooded cape which gives off strange, dark colour patterns.



ROLE-PLAYING

Ryan is a pretty normal kid, especially for an orphaned techno-wizard that has been through an abduction. He spends a great deal of time in the matrix, but is not a total matrix junkie. He also enjoys the company of friends in the 'real' world. He is an intensely curious person, but also responsible. For instance, he will always make sure he put safeguards into any experiments he does so that friends get alarmed if something goes wrong.
For a computer geek, Ryan is astonishingly fond of healthy food. His only vice appears to be hot chocolate.

SUMMARY

Through his new guardian, Ryan is slowly becoming involved in the activities of the Draco and Phoenix Foundations. In the future, he might become a major player both through his abilities and his wealth.



< Aina >

BACKGROUND

Aina is an immortal elf and quite possibly the best mage of the Sixth World. She is emotionally and physically scarred from long-term torture by the horror Ysrthgarthe, with whom she has a son called Thais. After the last Scourge, she was hunted by many elves who wanted to see her and her son Thais dead, but she found shelter with the dragon Mountainshadow (or Dunkelzahn as he is currently known). She is also close with Ghostwalker and Yuichotol. Throughout her life, Aina has further been tormented by Alachia, who not only killed her parents, but also tries to make her life miserable at any opportunity. Alachia currently resides in Scotland, but now also has a residence in Seattle, since her election to the Draco Foundation board. Aina has been researching the horrors for a long time and has tomes and tomes of handwritten notes and calculations that only she seems to be able to understand. Because of her need for faster calculations, Aina has been investing money in computing since the early days of their development. Most people don't realise how well she is versed in modern information technologies. Since the arrival of computers, Aina has started digitizing her notes in order to build computer models.
Since killing Ysrthgarthe, Aina was healed by a Passion, who healed all her scars and wounds from fighting the horrors. This led to an unplanned pregnancy after one of those 'for old times' sake' nights with Harlequin. Aina thinks that the Passion intended her to have the child, so she reluctantly kept it. The resulting daughter is called Maebh (pronounced 'Maeve'). Aina also has a liaison with the dragon Yuichotol who once helped her over her Ysrthgarthe trauma. Yuichotol is also the godmother of Thais (Dunkelzahn is his godfather).


DESCRIPTION

Aina is a dark skinned immortal elf with dark brown eyes. Until recently, she had silver hair, but since she was healed by the Passion her hair has turned black again. The same passion also healed her scars that she had from burning her first tattooed grimoire. Aina loves to look stylish and cannot pass a good designer shop. Otherwise, she likes to live a quite life on her Scottish estate.



ROLE-PLAYING

Aina appears calm and inscrutable. She is very private and normally avoids attention at all costs. At present, she is forced to become a bit more public through her involvement with the Draco Foundation. She feels slightly uncomfortable in this role, but at the same time, she does not want to dodge responsibility. Aina has been an outcast and loner all of her life, but currently feels a little more sociable through the new people that have started to congregate around her, including Elleara, Yuichotol and Ghostwalker. For someone who has been contemplating suicide on numerous occasions, it was particularly daunting to end up with an uplanned pregnancy. While extremely apprehensive at first, Aina has managed to come to terms with this new development, especially with the help of Thais and her new-found family. Still, Aina has experienced too much suffering to trust the peace.

SUMMARY

Now that she has taken revenge against Ysrthgarthe, Aina has focused her energies on counteracting whatever her battle with the horror allowed to enter this world. On the one hand, Aina is despairing over her stupidity and is extremely pessimistic about the future of the planet, on the other hand, she feels that the combination of people that currently surround her is more than promising. She is constantly fighting against a sense of hope in order not to be disappointed again...



< Harlequin >

BACKGROUND

Harlequin is an elven knight and diplomat. In the Sixth World, he frequents both the elven courts and the shadows. Harlequin is a bit of an anti-hero, with a soft-spot for street kids whom he is trying to keep out of trouble. Harelquin senses that the current Sourge is going to be most unusual in a really bad way and clandestinely tries to prepare for all eventualities, including the building of shadowrunner 'army'.


DESCRIPTION

Harlequin is considered very good-looking despite his missing ear (from a duel with Ehran the Scribe). He has recently started putting on harlequin make-up, which also extends to his hair style. His clothing is an exact mixture of courtly and shadows style: usually, he can be seen wearing high waisted trousers, a ruffled shirt with a short leather jacket and boots. Harlequin is an expert fencer and one of the best mages on the planet.



ROLE-PLAYING

Harlequin mainly knows three moods: grumpy, mischievous or charming. He tries not to care, but always ends up caring. He is especially protective of Aina whom he tries to shield from the venom of the elven court. Harlequin is also known for being fidgety and easily bored. He constantly thinks up crazy things for his own amusement - and sometimes those of others, if they are not on the receiving end on some major prank. Harlequin is further known as a hedonist, albeit on a surprisingly measured level.

SUMMARY

One of the most powerful mages of the Sixth World, how will "H" use his skills? Will his daughter play a role in the path he will take?



< Alachia >

BACKGROUND

Alachia was apparently born in the Fourth World and is the current queen of the elves, although not everyone accepts her rule. Amongst the immortals, she is notorious for her Ritual of Thorns that made all the elves in her kingdom suffer so much that they were spared from additional corruption through the horrors. She is very ruthless overall and punishes everyone who stands in her way. Aina's parents were killed by Alachia, when they opposed the construction of her wooden kaer.


DESCRIPTION

Alachia is a beeautiful, charismatic immortal elf. She has long red hair and loves wearing elaborate dresses. In the present, she has slightly toned down her style, but still likes to show off her wardrobe at balls or similar opportunities.



ROLE-PLAYING

Alachia always acts like a noblewoman - the worst kind of noblewoman. She is extremely arrogant and acts like everyone is inferior to her. She enjoys people with sarcasm or other condescending commentary. She only charms those she needs for her puroposes. Alachia particularly hates Aina, for a number of reasons, including her talent, being Harlequin's lover (he used to be Alachia's) and her potential for interfering with her plans...

SUMMARY

Alachia is power-crazy and won't stop at anything to achieve her goals. One set of rumours has it that she has always worked with the horrors, another set of rumours has it that she sees the horrors as competition for power.



< Jenna Ni Fairra >

BACKGROUND

For a long time, people were debating whether Jenna Ni Fairra was Alachia or not. As it looks, Jenna Ni Fairra and Alachia are two separate people. Apparently, Jenna is Alachia's daughter, but some shadowrunners have found out that she is more than her daughter - she is her clone. If that wasn't strange enough, the same shadowrunners have found evidence that Jenna perhaps has some horror DNA carefully mixed in. Recently, Jenna seems to have disappeared. She hasn't been seen in public for nearly a year, perhaps having undergone some kind of metamorphosis.


DESCRIPTION

Until recently, Jenna looked exactly like Alachia, apart from a difference in hair colour. Now she has developed strange scales on her body, especially her head. Since then, she has locked herself in, not even going out for food shopping (she has everything delivered).



ROLE-PLAYING

Jenna used to be an extreme racist. This was partly out of fear of having to acknowledge her own 'unclean' heritage. Although Alachia never told her, she always suspected that her birth was not entirely natural. She also anticipated that she would find out the hard way. Now her worst fears have been exceeded. Jenna is in a state of complete meltdown. She is torn between suicide and a desire for ugly revenge.

SUMMARY

Right now, Jenna is a complete mess. She can go either way: if the right kind of people help her, she has the potential to become a better person; if the wrong kind of people find her, she will either wind up dead or a psychotic killer.



< Carl Elliott Young >

BACKGROUND

Carl Elliott Young is a corporate physicist and magic researcher. He primarily works on the construction of gates. After finishing university with an exceptional record, Carl decided to enter corporate research rather than academia, because Ares offered the exact facilities and working conditions he needed for his project.


DESCRIPTION

Carl is an ambitious African American scientist whose research is increasingly taking over his life. He is making huge progress in the development of gates. His contract specifies that he is to develop gates for space travel. What Carl really works on is the use of astral space to move across space in general. This leads him into dangerous territory, since all sorts of threats lurk on the astral plane, including horrors. He still manages to dress well and maintain a good haircut, which always surprises his family and friends.



ROLE-PLAYING

Carl is a workoholic who is almost totally absorbed with his research. He regularly takes time out to see his son and his family in Seattle, however, despite the costs. As a researcher, he keeps to himself as much as possible, but, when necessary, he tries to assemble teams he can trust. As a team leader, he is a man of few words and expects people to work independently with little instructions. As a private person, Carl is quite shy, as he usually feels slighly out of place. He gets on well with his family who is proud of him, but also worries about his physical and mental health. Carl is particularly close to his cousin Jay, a barber who has offered his basement not only to great parties, but to a hacker collective. He used to be very close to his sister, but he feels that he cannot openly talk to her about his current research, which she would find not only risky but unethical in the context of a corporation. Carl is very proud of his son, which he still regards as a miracle (he never thought he'd end up with a family himself). He wishes that he could be more present as a father.

SUMMARY

Carl's research is very risky, but very necessary for the understanding of the Scourge, although he does not realise it yet.



< Vanessa Clarice Young >

BACKGROUND

Vanessa Young is an African American theoretical physicist and magician who specialises in space/astral space relations. She is concerned about the current developments in space around the earth, as well as her brother's involvement with dodgy corporations and experiments. She has recently gained tenure at MIT&T after her previous university rejected her theories and way of working. Because of her findings, she has become more closely involved with the Draco Foundation. Like her brother, she has magical abilities, which allow her to understand some very disturbing things about the world. The one thing she does to relax is drink tea and race her motorbike, especially when she is visiting family in Seattle. This is how she knows the Midnight Angels, The Face and other runners. Although not a lesbian herself, she is a great supporter of the queer community that hangs out around the race course and enjoys their company.


DESCRIPTION

Vanessa is a charismatic academic who is comfortable interacting with people. She has long braided hair that she usually wears tilted to one side. She likes to go everywhere by motorbike, so she dresses accordingly.



ROLE-PLAYING

Vanessa is strong and driven, with a nervous energy. She does not rest easily, mostly because of the things that she has witnessed over the last decade. She worries about her brother and about the fate of the world. Since she has talked to people like Aina at the Draco Foundation, she has become both more worried, but also more hopeful that there are people who are capable of facing such a threat. Through academia, Vanessa is well connected and can draw on the latest research that she will volunteer to any serious-minded, non-evil people with lack of access to resources.

SUMMARY

Through her analysis of the horrors' distribution in time and space, she is getting closer to finding ways of grasping the nature of the horrors.



< Ghostwalker >

BACKGROUND

Trapped by the great dragonhunter in a previous age, Ghostwalker was freed through the death of Dunkelzahn.


DESCRIPTION

In dragon form, Ghostwalker has the colour of pearl. In human form, he appears as a tall, broad-shouldered man with short white hair and pale grey eyes. He prefers to dress in grey and black. He dislikes modern shirts and prefers to wear jumpers or tunics instead.



ROLE-PLAYING

At the moment, Ghostwalker gives the impression of a man who is deep in thought. He has to come to terms with the new world as well as the loss of his brother who 'died' to free him and to save this world. He feels that Dunkelzahn has given him the responsibility for a world he does not yet understand. He feels like an absolute stranger. Since the return of his mate Yuichotol, Ghostwalker feels a lot less lost, especially since Yuichotol seems to have a plan against the horrors. Still, he wonders what will be even if the horrors are defeated - the world has become strange than he could imagine...

SUMMARY

Currently, Ghostwalker remains very quiet. He spends a lot of time with Hestaby, Mealla, Morgan and Aina to come to try to find himself in the new world. He also spends a lot of time with 'ghosts' (spirits). It will be interesting how he decides to intervene in it when he has found himself.



< Yuichotol (Loremaster) >

BACKGROUND

Having fought the dragonhunter over the last millennia in astral space, Yuichotol has returned through the help of Ghostwalker, Aina and other Lightbringers. While fighting the horror, she has learned an incredible amount about the nature of the threat.


DESCRIPTION

Yuichotol has emerged from her long battle with the Dragonhunter in a surprisingly sane state. Perhaps her incredible age and previous experiences with horrors helped her to stay strong and protect her pattern from the onslaught. A peer of All-Wings, Yuichotol is currently the oldest dragon alive. Because of her incredible age and her previous position as Loremaster, she is likely to be asked to take up this position once again. Since her return, she has not bothered staking out her realm, but has chosen to reside with Ghostwalker for the moment, to catch up on the present state of the world. In dragon form, she appears as serpent-like, with golden scales and white feathered wings, very much like in South American legends. Her original realm was based in this area. In human form, she looks to modern people like a cross between different native South American peoples, because they cannot recognise the past civilisation that her appearance relates to. Yuichotol has long black hair, that is frequently elaborately braided and decorated. She prefers the appearance of a not particularly tall woman in her 40s. Her voice is quite deep, and she is known as a great singer and story-teller.



ROLE-PLAYING

Yuichotol is the most charismatic of all the dragons. Because of her age and experience, she is incredibly wise and smart. She is incredibly adept at reading people, and is also surprisingly empathetic for a dragon. Her biggest goal is to rid the Earth of horrors. For this, she is willing to betray and slay her own kind, should they side with the enemy. Currently, Yuichotol is suspecting that some dragons and immortal eleves have made alliances with the netherworld to gain extra power and to not having to hide any longer, which is why she only trusts few people, mainly Ghostwalker, Aina and Thais. Yuichotol and Ghostwalker are closer than they should be in dragon society, which both choose to ignore, despite the potential punishments. Yuichotol is close with Aina and Thais, because they lived with Dunkelzahn (as 'Mountainshadow') when the elves were hunting them, and she frequently visited to compare notes on the horrors and on pattern magic with Aina. Yuichotol was instrumental in Aina's mental and physical recovery after the torment from Ysrthgarthe and the fight after her pregnancy. She is the only person that Thais has always listened to.

SUMMARY

Having just returned from astral space after a long time, Yuichotol is trying to catch up with everything as quickly as possible. She will want to have meetings with as many key players as possible in order to find out or speculate on their relation with the horrors. Because of what she has learned during her struggle with the Dragonhunter, she has a more concrete plan than during the last scourge and is determined to see it through. For this, she needs all the help she can get, but who can she trust?

BACKGROUND

Elleara, or 'L' as she is mostly called, is the younger daughter of Aithne and Mealla Oakforest. She grew up in Tir Taingire. As a teenager, she left the country to explore the world beyond, also, because she detested the elven society. Elleara has a difficult relationship with her father. She accuses him of maltreating her mother and just using her to produce a male heir. Indeed, Aithne shows little interest in his daughters who now live with his estranged wife.
Elleara is a talented mage, but has had little training until recently. Being the rebel that she is, Elleara went to look for the woman her father would never allow to train her. When she met Aina, she instantly felt sorry that she had wanted to use her as part of her revenge. She realised that Aina was not the kind of person who wanted to be part of that. In fact, she first refused to train Elleara, not just because of Aithne's wrath, but to not be reminded of the past. Yet when Elleara kept hovering around Aina, she eventually agreed to train her, under the condition that she behave better towards her family and that her mother gave permission. Elleara begged Mealla to talk to Aina, and she agreed after a while. The two women talked for a long time, which confirmed Mealla's doubts about the sanity of her husband. In the end, Mealla allowed Aina to teach her daughter and promised to do her best to keep Aithne off her back. Aina hopes that Elleara will not make the same mistakes that she made in her own youth. She has high hopes for Elleara, because of her talent. She suspects that Mealla is similarly talented but not trained.
After a few years, Aithne realised who was teaching his daughter and set out to kill Aina. This was prevented by Mealla, Elleara and Harlequin. This incident sent Aithne completely over the edge, and he can now be considered properly insane, and still bent on taking Aina's life.


DESCRIPTION

Elleara is proud of her NAtive American heritage and dresses like a biker with a few Native American/Mexican elements. She has long brown shaggy hair, hazel eyes and wears little or no make-up.



ROLE-PLAYING

Elleara rebels against elven society, particularly her father. Through Aina's recent influence, she has become more mature and responsible. At the moment, Elleara's role-models are Aina and Harlequin. Since the birth of their child, she has voluntarily taken on caring responsibilities to assist Aina with the trauma. Elleara has also befriended Aina's son Thais.

SUMMARY

Elleara will be a talented mage when she gets older. At the moment, she hopes to be one of the Lightbringers who want to ensure that the Earth is not hit by another Sourge. Aina hopes that she will not reject elven society completely, in order to become a good leader for her people during difficult times.

Tealla is Mealla's and Aithne's older daughter. She is much calmer than her rebellious sister, but equally disapproving of elven society and her dad's sole focus on her brother. For the moment, she has decided to stay in Tir Taingire with her mother. She is also a mage, but not as talented as her sister. She currently receives some training and has managed to persuade her mother to explore her talents, too, now that her father no longer forbids Mealla from doing so. Tealla is interested in the history of the elves and of the world, but has met a disturbing number of obstacles in her research. She has made some timid steps to get more information from the matrix, despite not being a decker.


DESCRIPTION

Tealla is a slender woman with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She prefers to wear simple dresses.



ROLE-PLAYING

Tealla comes across as gentle, mature, studious and not arrogant at all. She has a very strong bond with her mother and tries to be a good older sister for Elleara. The two of them get on better since Elleara started learning with Aina. Tealla is worried about elven society, and is especially disturbed by Alachia.

SUMMARY

At the moment, Tealla appears quite passive. According to what happens in her life and what she finds out about the past, this might change. What path will she choose?

BACKGROUND

Maebh ('Maeve') is the daughter of Aina and Harlequin. After the birth of Thais, Aina rendered herself sterile, but the Passion who resurrected her from the dead reappeared as a vision, and shortly after, she became pregnant with Harlequin's child. This has made things between the two ex-lovers fairly interesting, to say the least, especially as H is currently living with Ehran's daughter Jane, Aina was terribly afraid of becoming a mother again after all this time and especially in the face of another Scourge. She hopes that the Passion has a very good reason for putting her into this situation. She currently feels very vulnerable, even when it comes to people like Aithne or Alachia.
Maebh's godparents are Hestaby and Ghostwalker.


DESCRIPTION

Maebh is currently a toddler. She has brown skin, dark hair and hazel eyes.



ROLE-PLAYING

Maebh can see spirits and auras and other 'invisible' things from early on. She adores her brother Thais.

Thais is the child of Aina Sluage and the late horror Ysrthgarthe. His appearance and mental age goes through metamorphic cycles, which he can only complete with a sufficiently high mana level. Because of the low mana level during the downcycle, he had to endure a prolonged stay in his current form. The rising mana level allowed him to shift, and he now finally appears like a young adult. Since Yuichotol has returned to her post as Loremaster, she has taken on a seat on the Tir Council of Princes and has designated Thais as her deputy. Thais also now has an office and research post at the Draco Foundation


DESCRIPTION

Thais has the lower body of a snake and the upper body of a (hairless) human male - basically he looks like a Naga. He has dark skin and yellow reptilian eyes. Thais can shapeshift into human form, but prefers not to, especially not when his mother is around. When in human form, he appears as himself without the lower snake body.
Thais is pretty handsome despite his horror heritage. His skincolour is mid-way between grey and brown and his eyes are golden. He likes to wear hoodies and other more smart-ish street clothes.



ROLE-PLAYING

Thais used to come across like an eternal teenager. He rarely used his powers particularly responsibly and has a complicated relationship with his mother. Since the death of this father and the birth of his half-sister, Thais has started to change, not only physically. At first Aina feared that she would lose him completely, but the opposite was the case. Thais started feeling protective towards his sister and more understanding of his mother. Also, his friendships with Aina's students Elleara, Jiran and Ryan have had a positive effect on him. He is becoming more mature. Despite his confrontational attitude about his appearance, he has never felt comfortable and accepted in his heritage. The friendship with Jiran is starting to change this. Also, his sister, although she is not sharing his demonic side, is making him feel less lonely, so he is taking a lot of voluntary caring responsibilities.
Thais is aware of the on-coming Scourge and feels nervous about it, since he is both elf and horror. He is afraid of his dark side and does not want to endanger any loved ones.

SUMMARY

Thais has the potential to be a Lightbringer, but also to become a pawn of the dark side. At present, he has started to take steps to ward himself against the darkness, but he will need a lot of support to properly find his place.

BACKGROUND

There are two possible backgrounds of Sheila Blatavska. In our campaign, she is rumoured to be either Arianna Laryskova or Syglinda Narlanth. Syglinda Narlanth was dubbed the 'Queen of the Heavenherds' during the Theran Empire. The Heavenherds were the magical elite of the Empire. She was known for using Blood Magic to experiment with her appearance and possibly the make-up of her body. She also campaigned for 'immortality for all' and the advance of magical research in general. The less likely candidate is Arianna Laryskova who was the leader of an elven ranelle (clan) banned from the Bloodwood (for opposing Queen Fallia and Queen Liara). If she was alive today, she could be considered a primary rival of Alachia.


DESCRIPTION

Not much is known about Sheila Blatavska. In our campaign she has short blond hair, very pale skin and narrow, icy blue eyes.



ROLE-PLAYING

Sheila Blatavska has one passion: magic. Her primary goal at the moment is to recover as many artefacts as possible from Ancient Thera to start research into the Scourge.

SUMMARY

The lady is currently keeping a low profile. One wonders what goes on behind it...

< The Midnight Angels >

BACKGROUND

'The Mignight Angels are an all female go gang that ride their rapiers and auroras around the darkest streets of the Pullayup Barrens. Though not a large gang by any means, The Angels have a lot of influence on the streets and are feared and respected for the following reason: The Midnight Angels are all vampires.'
The Angels were created in the Free City of Berlin by a twisted, ancient vampire known as 'Shade'. After an attack of their lair by vampire hunters, the Angels managed to escape from Shade. Their flight took them all the way to Seattle where they have now settled. In our campaign, the Angels have spent a great deal fighting off Shade as well as trouble with other vampires. Shade has now been defeated and the Angels are torn between continuing their nomadic lifestyle or staking out a territory by using their power to fight off other gangs in the area. Having been thrown together from a wide variety of backgrounds, will they be able to function together any longer without a common enemy? In our campaign, the Angels have a new common enemy, other vampires who have hunted Shade, who is/was the last descendent of a much hated clan - a clan that could walk around in daylight (the Angels are not yet aware that they can do this, but they are about to find out).


DESCRIPTION & ROLEPLAYING

All Angels dress in motorbike clothing, although Fear prefers to wear dresses.

Lust is the leader of the Angels. She has long, blond hair and pale blue eyes. 'Lust is believed to know the rituals required to form Vampiric Pawns and has created a number of male servants. She is also known to help out more anarchistic shadowrunners out with information, or even physical aid in return for blood' and money. 'Lust is known as a dangerous knife-figher and remarkable biker; it is said she tests the mettle of her men by taking them on the ride of their lives, both literally and metaphorically.' Lust is the daughter of a diplomat and a circus artist from Moscow. After the assassination of her father, Lust and her mother fled to Hamburg where her mother ended up with the wrong kind of people who forced her into prostitution. After a few years, Lust's mother committed suicide and Lust (then a teenager) subsequently killed her mother's boyfriend/pimp. She fled to the Free City of Berlin where she was embraced by Shade.

Love 'spends most of her time in a dream-like state. She is consumed by love for her fellows and is extremely naive at times.' Drugs also play a part in this - and Love knows a lot about them, because she used to practice as a medical doctor. 'Other than Lust, Love is the member most likely to help outsiders. Love is an initiated hermetic mage.' As a doctor and researcher, Love came across some very odd cases in her native Berlin, which led her to Shade. After Shade's death, she has started to abandon her escapism and has become a bit of an activist for meta-human health research.

Hate is part North-African, part afro-Caribbean. Lust and Hate and their respective gangs used to be rivals. Hate is known for her violent outburts, but also for her keen intelligence. As the most feared of the Angels, she keeps people off the gang's back. People who have regular contact with her also know that she can be very kind and funny, especially with children, teenagers, homeless people and members of the queer community. After Shade's death, Hate has calmed down a great deal and has become even happy. Since the Angels have become more settled in the Docks area, she has started to look after some streetkids who she employs in her own garage. She also tries to give the kids some basic education. Unbeknownst to most, Hate has actually attended school till the end, something she used to hide from her fellow gang members.

Chastity is the second youngest member of the Angels. She was embraced at the age of sixteen. 'She hates what she is and treats all of her victims with respect and sympathy. Chastity is known to be a hermetic mage and is still honing her skills with the aid of Love.' Chastity comes from an upper-class German family who sent her to boarding school in the US. Even before her embrace, she felt very estranged from her family who she rarely saw. She used to have a strong bond with her younger brother who keeps looking for her.

Envy is of Haitian-American origin. 'The oldest of the Angels, Envy was 49 when Shade took her life. Though still very beautiful, Envy craves the looks of the other vampires and is especially envious of Chastity.' Envy is driven by revenge against Shade and uses her own invention of hybrid magic to fulfil her goal. In our campain, Envy plays a key part in defeating Shade.

Fear was embraced at the age of eleven. 'Fear is a pitiful being scared of her own shadow. She doesn't really understand her nature and needs constant attention from the others.'

Melancholy 'is potentially the most dangerous of the Midnight Angels'. She is a man hater and is wanted by Lone Star for at least 20 murders in the Barrens. Melancoly blames men for her state of being and will stop at nothing to kill one she takes a dislike to.'

Ecstasy is the 'latest addition to the Midnight Angels'. She is the only one not embraced in Berlin. She is a somewhat accidental creation. 'Ecstasy was once the rock singer 'Charmed Rose'. Lust and the others fell in love with the beauty of her music and one night found they had 'liberated' her from mortality. Ecstasy is a pure hedonist and spends much of her time lost in the music of her guitar' and her extensive record collection (yes, actual vinyl). 'Ecstasy is most likely to fall in love with a character, whether male or female, and she can be rather demanding in her advances'. Love and Ecstasy frequently take drugs together.


SUMMARY

In our campaign, the only remaining Angels after the fights with Shade and other Vampires are Lust, Love, Hate and Chastity. Fear has been returned to a human existence. The four Angels have formed alliances with other runners.

BACKGROUND

Raven Mae Gordon is a powerful psionicist, shaman and fighter. She is also a mutant with empathic abilities and certain immunities. She works for a secret Native American organisation called The Rangers and has also co-founded a 'charitable organisation' called The Phoenix Foundation. To the outside, she is just an ordinary, albeit very exceptional, law student specialising in human and meta-human rights. Raven occasionally takes part in illegal motorbike races.


DESCRIPTION

Raven is part Native American and part African American. She has light brown skin, long-ish braided and dark brown eyes. She is quite tall and androgynous. Most of the time she is wearing black or grey jeans, biker boots and fashionable motorbike jackets.



ROLE-PLAYING

Raven has quite a positive outlook on life after a rather dark past, during which she contemplated suicide. She knows that life is tough, but she also believes in kindness and the possibility of good.
After being a very insecure teenager, she now comes across as very together and confident. Most people will not have a clue what goes on outside her law school life.

SUMMARY

Raven tries to achieve as much good as possible in the harsh Sixth World. This makes her many enemies that she has so far managed to outwit.

Tara Pau-ahi Kasaiyama is an environmental biologist from Hawaii. She specializes in fauna and flora surrounding volcanoes above and under water. Her father is a volcanologist lecturing at the University of Hawaii, and he is also on the board of an alternative energy company harnessing volcanic energy.
Tara is a member of the Cousteau Society and trained as a special agent allowing her to expertly steal information, sabotage experiments and defend herself in combat... These skills she also uses in the 'Phoenix Foundation' which she co-founded.


DESCRIPTION

Tara is of Japanese and Hawaiian origin. She appears to be of light build, which conceals the strength she has accumulated through her intensive combat training. She has light brown skin, a bob of dark hair and brown eyes. She likes fashionable clothing.



ROLE-PLAYING

Tara has a bubbly, outgoing personality. She is very good at transmitting enthusiasm and seeing the good side about bad things. Her friends tease her for being a 'maneater' and for sometimes scaring away men with her direct approach.

SUMMARY

Like Raven, Tara is leading a double life, which she has managed to pull off quite successfully so far. No one really expects her to be anything but a horny, young geek.



< Jiran >

BACKGROUND

Jiran is a half-horror and co-founder of the 'Phoenix Foundation'. Despite her parentage, she is not evil and is destined to play a key part in the fighting of the horrors. Due to her love for and expertise on volcanoes, she started studying geology, but is increasingly turning to philosophy and politics. Her current mentor for her magic abilities is Aina.

DESCRIPTION

Every few years, Jiran undergoes a physical transformation which also affects her abilities. She has moved from being very visibly horror - sulphur smell, olive skin, all-black eyes/hair/nails, pointy ears/tail/horns to looking almost human (closer to her adoptive mother). At the moment, she has pale skin, black eyes, long black hair (that still smells a bit burnt and moves in strange ways). Jiran has the completely opposite aura of a demon and grows more charismatic every year.
Because of her colour-blindness, Jiran dresses mostly in black, which is the easiest colour to identify for her. She also has absolutely no sense of taste - or rather a very strange one. Having a meal with her is a very interesting experience, as she needs certain supplements to keep her healthy, most of which are toxic or at least revolting to humans. Conveniently, Jiran is immune to the effects of alcohol and other human toxins.
Jiran is very retro. Her hobbies include skate-boarding, Japanese calligraphy and martial arts, taking mud-baths, going to sushi-bars and watching old TV series. Her favourite series as a child was 'MacGyver'. Her favourite musicians are John Cage and Li Lifang.
Jiran keeps pet fish that are considered exceptionally ugly by most people.


ROLE-PLAYING
Jiran is a combination of charming, eccentric, easy-going and serious. She feels a particularly strong bond with other meta-humans and loves spending time in the ork underground where an old ork called Ben tells her stories of the time before the change. Jiran is also friends with Aina's son Thais.

SUMMARY

The current position in Jiran's life history is probably best described as the 'calm before the storm'...

Jen is of French-Canadian and Lebanese origin. She has curly blong hair and brown eyes. When she does not have to don business attire, she wears simple jeans and blouses combined with a fitted leather jacket and expensive Italian boots.



ROLE-PLAYING

Jen wants to succeed in business, but also does not want to sell her soul. She comes across as very confident, but also has a very vulnerable side, which she only shows to her closest family, friends and her partner Raven.

SUMMARY

Not selling your soul doing business in the Sixth World? Eventually Jen will have to make decisions which can land her on either side of the fence.

BACKGROUND

Anari is the current girlfriend of the vampire Hate. She is not a vampire herself, but not quite human either. Many people think she is a kind of spirit, but that also misses the mark. Whatever she is, she seems to be 'okay'!
Only one runner knows what Anari is and where she came from. She was brought into the world by accident. The son of a famous CEO, an incompetent mage, managed to summon and bind an alu-fiend (Anari) to himself. With the help of 'The Face', Anari managed to free herself from the mage and is now exploring life outside her previous confinement.


DESCRIPTION

Anari has very pale skin, red eyes and deep straight black hair which is cut into a bob. She tends to wear black jeans, T-shirt and leather jacket. She usually hides her red eyes behind an illusion so that they appear dark brown.



ROLE-PLAYING

Anari has quite a lively and curious personality, but is also quite bad ass. She tries to avoid questions about her origins. She enjoys bets and pranks.

SUMMARY

If her relationship with Hate lasts, Anari might become more involved in earthly politics. She she seems to know a great deal about horrors...

BACKGROUND
'The Face' is a kind of 'Ueber-Runner' who manages to pull of the most impossible runs.
Behind 'The Face' is tech and psionics wizard Kayana Jayachin, although she never really uses her real name.
At the beginning of her career, Kayana worked as a supermodel to earn money for her tech, but soon, she had to give up modelling as shadow-running required her full-time attention.

DESCRIPTION
Tall and athletic, with long black hair, fairly dark skin and dark eyes, she sports the hard, but also etherally feminine looks of a supermodel (her 'day job').
'The Face' is currently the most highly paid runner in the business, but for some people, she works at a discounted price, as long as they keep quiet about it. These include the Draco Foundation, Angel and some members of the Ork Underground.
Kayana has a playful quarrel with Harlequin whom she charges double if he requires any of her services. She also has a 'game' with the vampire Lust whose harem she admires.

ROLE-PLAYING
With strangers and potential clients, you are a total a professional. You know you are the best and the only person who can do this job. If they don't want you, you have the next job already lined up. Amusingly, you can't stand arrogant people apart from yourself… You accept this fact with a sarcastic grin.
You don't trust people and you want to know who you are working for and why you are working for them. If something seems strange with your run, you ask uneasy questions until you know what is strange. You don't do ordinary jobs, but you certainly don't do dirty jobs. How knows what these freaks in Atzlan have thought out this time to be able to make use of your superior abilities.

At home you are surrounded by the latest technology, the finest furniture, the fastest cars and the best wine. Your house is so high tech that you don't even need a cleaner or a cook. Of course, you also have your own gym, combat simulation room and pool - and a separate kitchen for your half-demon adoptive daughter which more closely resembles a meth lab. In fact, it may be one, for all you know. You have a well-stocked bar that makes the jaw of a far-travelled high-society bartender drop several inches. You own a yacht and a helicopter. You have shares in several major corporations and enormous accounts with several banks in several countries. You like to play out the big boys against each other. However, you are really relaxed about all this. This is your minimum expectation from life.

Among friends, you are an eccentric but lovable person. You are generous, out-going and have a dry, dark sense of humour. You never miss a good rock concert or bike-race, unless you have a really good and well-paid reason not to do so. Occasionally you throw parties for your friends. If they ruin your carpet or marble floor you simply get a new one in. After all, it doesn't cost the world. As for your real identity, only your closest friends and adoptive daughter know your history. The same number of people also know your real age and the location of your well-equipped training room behind your bedroom wall.
And one more thing: you always wear black and a multitude of illusions. No one must see your face - even if it is plastered all over the world.

Kenneth Unarik first came to the attention of the Shadows when he started doing work on those old ships in the docks. His work attracted quite a few people and has now morphed into a full-blown community. Needless to say, the Big Guys are not happy about this...


DESCRIPTION

Before he changed, Kenneth Unarik was a wrestling star. His transformation nearly killed him and definitely killed his career. Now Kenneth Unarik is a self-professed social worker. He tries to find homes for homeless people and refugees. Ken is very enterprising, always trying to locate spaces and 'funding sources' across Seattle. He recently managed to convert space in the Docks as well as old ships with the help of street people. Some of the dock workshops got turned into work spaces. Ken has good contacts to the shadier side of the population who protect his projects in exchange for living space and education for their families.



ROLE-PLAYING

Kenn is quiet and determined. He doesn't take shit and, when necessary, he will remind people that wrestling is not only faked violence.

SUMMARY

Kenneth Unarik has made powerful enemies (developers, organised crime), but also powerful friends. His projects now get support from the Draco Foundation. Ken has many friends in the Ork Underground.

BACKGROUND

According to the Shadowrun Wiki, "Zacaultipan is a female Feathered Serpent who lives in Denver.
She worked as an instructor in combat thaumaturgy for Aztechnology, but left and destroyed the Leopard Guard training facility where she had worked before moving to Denver.
She goes by the alias, Coyolxauhqui, and used this alias as the owner of a restaurant in Denver called the Serpent's Feather located in the Aztlan district of the city. The restaurant is known as a meeting place for fixers.
Zacaultipan had an intense rivalry with her brother, DzitbalchŽn , whom still worked for Aztechnology. Their rivalry never extended to violence, (this is apparently against the rules of being a feathered serpent) but if it financially hurt or embarrassed her brother, she would go to great lengths to see it done.
In 2061 during Ghostwalker's arrival to Denver, DzitbalchŽn went to Denver to rescue and return Zacaultipan to Aztlan. She refused and the two began to fight each other. This fight was interupted by Ghostwalker when he destroyed the Serpent's Feather. Both feathered serpents managed to escape the city.
Sometime later she was allowed to return to live within the city. She has been seen in astral space doing some work for Ghostwalker's spirit allies.
In 2064, Zacaultipan attempted to rescue DzitbalchŽn, whom was being executed for terrorist actions taking place at the Yucatan Peace Summit. She failed and her brother died. She returned to Denver but there have been few sightings of her since then. "

In our campaign, Zacualtip‡n found out that the execution of her brother was faked and that he was being taken to Aztlan proper for "research purposes". She tried to rescue him with the help of rebels, but arrived too late. Her brother had been used in a ritual to summon a powerful blood spirit. It was an experiment to see whether the mages could control such a being. Zac also found out that they are planning on getting Sirrurg framed for warcrimes or somesuch, in order to get hold of a greater dragon.


DESCRIPTION

When not flying around as a feathered serpent, Zacualtip‡n walks around as a woman with Aztec features. She likes punky long-hair styles, usually with dyed or shaved or braided bits. She also wears upmarket punky clothing to match her hair.



ROLE-PLAYING

Zacualtip‡n joined Aztechnology because of her skills and her idealism. When she noticed dark things going on, especially with regards to dragons, toxic spirits, atmospheric holes and blood magic, she decided to get the hell out of there and try to do something from the outside. Inside, she feared for her life. Zac would normally be a lively, mischievious person, if she wasn't hunted by Aztechnology and participating in a guerrilla war against the corp. Her brother's death has made her even more serious. Zac is a very genuine person who is deeply committed to helping those at the receiving end of Aztlan's and Aztechnology's nasty workings. To those ends, she is building a runner network that can aid the resistance.

SUMMARY

Zacualtip‡n can be a useful contact for runners working against Aztechnology. She also holds some puzzle pieces towards a bigger secret that the Draco Foundation and others are trying to uncover.
